Secondary Science Overview
Emphasis on Truth
When God gave man the first command (Gen. 1:28), He laid the foundation of science and scientific inquiry. BJU Press seeks to teach students that science is a powerful tool for obeying that command. Each of our science textbooks points out the infinite wisdom and design of God and shows students that through modeling our world, we are better able to love our neighbors and glorify God. We teach students to evaluate evolutionary models in light of Scripture and to construct new models that are responsible with the scientific data and faithful to the Bible.
BJU Press science encourages hands-on learning with science labs and activities. Stories of great scientists and their discoveries help students see the practical ways science can be applied. Students are encouraged to think about modern scientific issues, such as cancer, pollution, and renewable energy, and to practice creative problem-solving skills. Our secondary science textbooks refine students’ critical thinking and research skills in preparation for college-level courses.
Since science is a challenging subject, we have provided extra support. Extensive marginal notes with background information, complete solutions for problems, concise lesson plans, suggested web links, and CDs containing supplemental materials help teachers plan enriching lessons.
