In Kiriath’s Quest, fantasy fiction by Rick Barry, King Jekoniah of Xandria is kidnapped by evil Grishnaki, and the royal family must find a way to save him. The desired ransom is impossible, and an outright war on the Grishnaki would end in disaster—so Prince Kiriath undertakes a secret mission into the Grishnaki’s valley. But danger slows the prince's journey, and as the ransom deadline approaches, Kiriath begins to wonder whether he will reach his father in time. This fantasy from JourneyForth Books keeps readers holding their breath to the last sentence.

Thumbs up for Kiriath's QuestKiriath's Quest is a wholesome adventure that appeals to teens, both boys and girls. Unlike some fantasy novels, it contains NO magic, which I consider good. Also, from time to time the characters' dialogue echoes truths found in the Bible. It's not allegory (another plus for me), but is a good, clean adventure story that upholds such family values as love of family, self-sacrifice, self-discipline, and humility. A good read for both students and parents!
