The Travel Adventures of an Achievement Test

The Travel Adventures of an Achievement Test

It’s 8 p.m. Do you know where your tests are?

Travel Itinerary

School is out and summer’s here! Ever wonder what your achievement tests are doing while you’re on vacation? Here’s a glimpse of their scoring “travelogue.”

Reaching the “travel agency”

After your achievement tests are completed, it can take a week or more for the completed test materials to reach the BJU Press Testing & Evaluation center after your test proctor ships them.

Check-In

Once your test arrives, we begin the scoring arrangements by logging its arrival—a safety step we take to track the progress of all testing materials. Next, our office staff walk each test through a detailed checklist to be sure it’s ready for its trip to the scoring center. Checkpoints include

  • Assisting with claims for damaged testing materials (remember to insure your package!)
  • Making arrangements for expedited scoring (hand scoring)
  • Looking for possible grade-level/test-level discrepancies

Departure

The office staff then escorts each test document through several red-tape security check points prior to putting it on its “flight” to the correct national scoring centers.

Relaxing at the resort

We wish we could relax too! But while the achievement tests often stay at the scoring center “resorts” for several weeks during their scoring, we continue helping hundreds of other tests find their correct “travel destinations.”

Return Flight

After an enjoyable multiweek vacation, the tests return to the BJU Press Testing & Evaluation center as fit and ready test scores to tackle the bustling business of Baggage Claim. Several hundred test-score reports scramble to collect their interpretation brochures (good reading!) and hail a ride home in the correct envelope.

Developing the photos

Group hug! Home at last! Your test has had an exciting journey and now has lots to show you. Time to look through the snapshots of the year’s educational progress and reflect—What would I like to see at the end of next year?
