“Go Green” with BJU Press Testing & Evaluation Testing Services
It seems that everybody these days is “going green.” While some folks may take it to an extreme and mistakenly worship the earth, there really are ways to “go green” and still honor God—by taking care of what has been entrusted to us. Here are a few of the ways BJU Press Testing & Evaluation testing services “goes green”—and how it can “save green” for your pocketbook!
Reduce
Technology keeps advancing, and so do testing methods. Career Guidance is now available as online assessments, reducing both paper and shipping costs.
Tip: If you are testing different students a few weeks apart, consider returning all of the items at the same time. Shipping two packages at 1 pound each costs almost twice as much as shipping one package at 2 pounds. Fewer packages = better shipping rates and less packing material used! (Be sure to include paperwork for each order, though, so that we can identify all the testing materials.)
Reuse
While the younger grades are “consumable” (students write their answers directly in the test booklet), most test booklets are reused from year to year. Replacing testing materials is very costly, so reusing books puts more “green” back into the homeschool family’s pocket.
Tip: Test for Success test-prep materials have reusable teacher’s guides. Since they’re also appropriate for multiple grades, reuse your teacher’s guide next year, ordering only additional student pages at a fraction of the kit price.
Repair
Aahh, the rising cost of health care! Even test booklets need some TLC. Each autumn, the entire testing staff works together to clean and repair every page of every test booklet—and that’s no small feat! The reward is a longer life expectancy for each book—and more savings for you!
Tip: Coffee and chocolate—they may both be “rich” but they’re the costliest threat to test booklets. Spilled beverages can ruin a booklet and incur a repair fee, so finish the caffeine before starting to test. Students also love chocolate during their break time—just have them wipe their hands before resuming testing. Help us keep the price low by giving your own tender love and care while the testing materials visit your family.
