  • Francisco de Coronado- Archives of the West to 1806—letters by Coronado detailing his exploration; part of a PBS site on the West
  • Roanoke Colony—(The Shadowlands | Coastal Guide)—The Lost Colony that was vanished without a trace in the 1580s
  • Virtual Jamestown—probably the best site on Jamestown; provides letters, writings, and other primary documents; in-depth historical info; maps; easy to navigate
  • Jamestown Rediscovery—a good website on Jamestown; provides primary source material, great maps, paintings, and illustrations; panoramic pictures from Jamestown today using IPIX (free download); shows artifacts
  • Colonial Williamsburg Foundation—history of Williamsburg; includes social history and current archaeological research; easy to navigate; many illustrations and pictures to aid learning; lesson plans; information on electronic field trips 
  • Colonial North America: 1492-1763—covers first European contact with New World up to Seven Years' War; focuses on English, French, and Spanish colonial endeavors; topics are fairly lengthy; some pictures and maps
  • The Mariners' Museum—provides info on early exploration and settlement of the New World; low map quality; includes curriculum guide; pictures available
  • ushistory.org Front Page—focuses on colonial and Revolution-era America; information not too in-depth; easier to navigate through than several sites
  • The Cartographic Creation of New England—a great collection of early maps of the New England coast; provides some explanation for some of these maps
  • Native American Homes—Photos and descriptions of various Native American home styles, including longhouse, pit house, tipi, wigwam, and others.
  • Pueblo Indians—A National Park Service site featuring Pueblo history, government, etiquette, ceremonies, and map of locations.
  • Mound Builders—A National Park Service site featuring the history and a description of the Mississippi Mound Builders with links to each location, explanations of how the mounds were built, and steps being taken to preserve them.
  • Tuzigoot—A National Park Service site featuring information about Tuzigoot National Memorial and numerous photos and multimedia of the structures and the history of the Indians who lived there.
  • Mesa Verde—A National Park Service site featuring information about Mesa Verde National Park and numerous photos and multimedia of the structures and the history of the Indians who lived there.

  • FamilySearch Internet Genealogy Service—genealogical records of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; easy to use internal search engine
  • 1753 Poor Richard's Almanack Contents—images from a 1753 Poor Richard’s Almanac; type is a little hard to read on pages
  • Mayflower And Early Families—good info on colonial life; includes The Colonial Gazette with articles on numerous topics (some from colonists’ perspective); interesting facts and diagrams such as the passenger list from the Mayflower and cutaway of the boat; well laid out and well managed; primary sources available
