ITBS Early Grade 1 (Form C, Level 6)

ITBS Early Grade 1 (Form C, Level 6) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality is great, value is questionable Some sections only have 6 questions and that is your score for that entire section. Kids this age do have a shorter attention span, so I don't know how to fix the problem. I do like this test to give an overall feel for if they are learning and it will be something to compare with over time as we continue to take these tests each year. I wouldn't get too hung up on specific scores though. My child took this test as a great reader and found it very easy. The test was well made and organized very nicely. I think that I am more questioning the value of testing a child at this age.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Helpful Test Our daughter was 6 months into 1st grade when she took this test. I'm glad we chose early grade 1 and we did so based on other recommendations we read on the website. The reading portion was optional but we had her take it and she did just fine. I felt that this test gave our family a good baseline to see what our daughter has mastered so far in the first grade and that she seems on target with her peers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great point of reference after first year of homeschooling We ordered these tests after our first grade year, our first year of homeschooling our two oldest children. The tests covered Reading, Vocabulary, Listening, and Mathematics. The instructions were clear throughout the process, and the results were fairly easy to decipher. It was so helpful to have the standardized results to see how our kids compare nationally and what areas we need to focus on for next year.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I owa Achievement Test I like to use this test because it gives me a clearer picture of my children's strengths and weaknesses. It also gives me an idea of how they compete with their peers across the nation. I do not use it as a final authority when I assess the abilities of my children, but it does give me a pretty good picture of things we may need to spend more time on the following year. Though I do have to wonder about some of the questions from time to time because I can see how some items would be very difficult for kids these days due to content in questions that kids today would have no clue about. For example, there might be a question that has a picture of a rotary phone. Most kids today probably would not even have seen a picture of one of those. I realize most of the time we are using older versions of this test, but that would be why I wouldn't get too upset if a child misses some questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Turn Around Time The test is easy to administer. All the materials needed are sent with easy checklists to follow. I appreciate the pre addressed envelope with directions on how to mail the completed test(s) back. BJU was also very quick to answer several questions (at different times). The test was scored quickly and having the score interpreting guide was not only beneficial to me but also to friends who had children tested elsewhere who did not receive the guide! Thank you BJU!
