Earth Science Student Text (4th ed.)
Look inside this book
Earth Science, 4th Ed. is an expedition. Your students will find themselves climbing mountains, diving into the oceans, and launching into the skies on a quest to learn how the world works.

During this quest, students will find that Earth science is also a battle of worldviews. This text clearly introduces students to the secular theories of where everything they see came from. They critique these theories. For each secular theory, the text affirms the conservative biblical view of Earth’s history shaped by Creation, the Fall, and the Flood. Students’ Christian worldviews will be shaped and strengthened as they learn about tectonic processes, landforms and earth materials, fossils, the oceans and oceanography, rivers and lakes, the atmosphere, weather and storms, climate and environmentalism, the solar system, the universe and cosmology, and space science.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This book would be great for two years of instruction. 8th-9th. It is impossible to cover this amount of material in a one year study if you enhance any portion of it. We hope eventually to use this on the 8th and 9th grade level. Strong curriculum for the Earth portion of the Science Field. Very challenging for 8th grade students for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a great text for giving kids a general knowledge of the earth and universe. The activities are really enjoyable and it is a remarkable fun class to teach. The text does a great job of presenting Biblical truth in conjunction with what the world is saying. I think it is critical that children be given the tools to respond to a media and world that is telling them that Biblical creation is a myth. This text does a great job. My only criticism is that there is too much to accomplish well in one year. I think that there are several chapters (mountains and volcanoes, for example) that could be incorporated into a single chapter. Otherwise this is a fabulous text.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review of BJU textbooks used at Faith Christian School, Williams Bay, Wisconsin I'm a '68 alumnus of BJU and have been teaching for over 43 years, all in a Christian school. Where possible I've always used BJU Press materials because of the manner in which a Biblical worldview is integrated into whatever subject material the book covers. The ONLY thing I have been disappointed in was when the Press went from "hard-backed" texts to "soft-covered" texts. I've spoken with persons from the "Pres" and they shared that it is more cost efficient to use the soft covers. And, I understand that - but considering the many, many, Christian schools that use your materials and the tight budgets most of them operate from, it is quite difficult purchasing new books every 3-4 years or even more frequently because of how rapidly the soft-covered texts need to be replaced because of wear and tear. I don't expect you to change but just wanted you folks to see it from our side of the situation. I use the 7th, 8th, 9th, Bio, and Chem texts from BJU press and expect to continue. I also teach an Anatomy & Physiology class but no texts are available for that course to my knowledge so many years ago I contacted Dr. Henson (my former Prof) and asked him to recommend a text and he did and I'm still using that. Thank you for the opportunity to share. Mike Bechman.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Excellent information ~ horrid design for textbook While the quality of the content is excellent...the softcover books are absurd. The cost the the text would be acceptable, if not excellent EXCEPT for the fact that they will not endure the beatings that they will take from students throwing them into book bags and lockers. These books will have to be replaced within 2, maybe 3 years. Very disappointed with them.
