Math 5 (3rd ed.) uses manipulatives to build on the mathematical foundations of multiplication, division, and place value, and to develop the student’s understanding of geometry, fractions, decimals, ratios, and measurements. Students read and interpret a variety of graphs and charts. The practical use of the Problem-Solving Plan is emphasized as well as mental math computation and the memorization of addition, subtraction, multipication, and division facts.

Very goodThe curriculum is very thorough, covering math on a 5th grade level very well. However, at the beginning of the year, there is no review or easing into grade level lessons. It begins too quickly, too heavily, and needs a few days of "easing into" the subject.

Could Stand ImprovementI'm a professor turned teacher, and I've seen a lot of textbooks in my life. I'm not impressed with this teacher's edition at all. I'm starting it for homeschooling, so I've got a long way to go. The answers for textbook pages 23-24 are missing. The font for the answers is too small. This is an expensive book, as textbook and teacher's editions usually are, but how much of the money goes to colored ink?
The biblical integration, the newest buzzword in Christian education, wastes page after page talking about piloting. Just the facts, please. Consider college math textbooks, that teach so much without all this expensive color, and stick to the subject material. I'm a Christian, but I still think that we should concentrate on academic excellence, something that seems to be lacking on occasion in Christian presses. Yes, God created all this. Yes, we can help mankind, excuse me, humankind, by fulfilling our dominion mandate. But let's write answer keys with font large enough for someone like me who teaches all day and homeschools math in the evening. The colors and stories and career goals are dessert.

Great!Love this T.E. For my 5th grader! Just wish it would be included with the DVD kit instead of having to purchase separately.
