Building on the foundations of Science 1 and 2, Science 3 lessons acquaint students with a wider variety of minerals, animals, birds, and plants, as well as weights and measures, stars, and planets. A special section entitled Reduce, Reuse, Recycle introduces the concept of stewardship and how a student's actions affect the world around him. Subjects include the following:

Sound—sound waves, travel through gas, liquid and solid, parts of the ear, pitch, quality


Cells, Tissues, and Organs—cell structure, living things, microscopes


Minerals, Rocks, Soil—crystals, uses, precious metals, igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic formation


Animals—with and without backbones, warm and cold blooded, plant and animal eaters


Birds—characteristics, observation, identification


Work—forces, power, people, horses, engines, air and water power


Skin—layers, glands, fingerprints, care, hair, nails


Plants—food and storage, helpful plants


The Solar System—inner and outer planets, asteroids, comets, meteors
