Can I receive BJ LINC using my Dish Network or DirecTV dish?

No, those systems differ from ours in technology and are not interchangeable. You will need to use the system we provide.

Can I install my dish using a temporary mount?

Though it is possible to receive the signal with a temporary mount, we recommend that your mount be stable. If your mount is not stable, it will be difficult to obtain the signal and nearly impossible to retain it.

top

Do I have to ground my dish and cable?

Yes, you need to ground the dish (even if using pole mount) and the COAX cable. This will help prevent interference and damage due to lightning.

top

Will my Dish Network or DirecTV system interfere with my BJ LINC system?

No, the different systems point to different satellites and will not necessarily interfere. Of course, your BJ LINC dish will not point through any object (even another dish).

What is the difference between BJ LINC and BJ HomeSat?

BJ LINC (Live Interactive Network Classroom) refers to live high school classes – maths, sciences, and foreign languages for 9th-12th grades. BJ HomeSat refers to all classes (K4-12th) that are prerecorded.

top

What is broadcast on Channel 4?

Channel 4 is designated primarily for special programming rather than classes.

top

Can I record two different classes at the same time?

Yes, if you have two receivers. You will not be able to record two different classes just because you have two VCRs. Two VCRs will enable you to record classes back-to-back.

top

What do I do if I miss recording a class?

If you are registered and miss it due to weather or other problems on your end, you may purchase a makeup DVD for $15.00. If the problem is due to an equipment or broadcast problem, we will supply free makeup DVDs for your classes.

How do I know which lesson number I am on?

For BJ LINC classes, the lesson number is found in the top right corner of the screen during the lesson. For BJ HomeSat classes, it is shown at the beginning and end of each lesson.

top

Am I able to contact the teacher for my class?

Yes, you may call, fax, or e-mail the teacher. Please include the teacher’s name and your BJ LINC site number on all faxes and e-mails.

top

Do I need to purchase tests and answer keys for BJ LINC classes?

A complete list of recommended materials can be found online at www.bjupress.com/services/linc or in your BJ LINC Program Guide and Handbook.

top

Can I get these classes on prerecorded DVDs?

Yes, contact a BJ LINC Customer Service Representative at 1-800-845-5731.

top

Should I follow the EPG (Electronic Program Guide) or the printed Broadcast Schedule?

You can use both. The EPG will be accurate if your time zone setting in the receiver is correct. The printed guide is in Eastern Time. If you notice a conflict between them, follow the printed schedule.
