Storm Preparation Suggestions
In addition to normal precautions, such as boarding up windows and protecting electronic equipment by unplugging it and covering it with plastic, you can also take some preventive measures with your satellite dish.
1. Mark the dish settings.
a. With a permanent, waterproof material such as magic marker, paint, or fingernail polish, put a mark on the pole and on the collar of the dish where it is mounted to the pole. Make sure that the mark is clear enough so that you can realign the azimuth setting if necessary.
b. Put a mark on the elevation indicator so you know where it was set.
2. Disconnect the RF cable from the LNB. (Cover the end of the cable with a baggie, and secure with plastic tie-wrap to keep moisture from end of cable.)
3. Remove the dish from the mount.
a. Loosen the bolts that secure the dish. Remove the bolts that secure the LNB arm to the back of the dish mount.
b. Store the dish in a safe place.
4. After the storm has passed,
replace the dish on the pipe or frame, carefully aligning the marks you
made as instructed above. Reconnect the cable to the LNB. You can verify
the results by pressing the “Signal” button on your receiver
remote and checking the strength and quality readings that will be displayed
on your TV. If you have any problems, call BJU Press Customer Services
