Site Survey | General Site Survey
Before attempting to install your system, it is necessary to survey possible locations where your system can be successfully installed. REMEMBER, your dish MUST have a clear, unobstructed view of the sky in the direction of our satellite (Galaxy 26). Our satellite is located generally in the direction of Shreveport, LA, 22,300 miles above the equator. Specifically, it is located above the equator at 93° West Longitude.

Possible signal obstructions are trees, tree branches, leaves, power lines, and buildings. In some instances the signal is limited by geographical location, e.g., a location in a valley might be blocked by a mountain.
Your ability
to clear an obstacle is based on the elevation
(check your azimuth and elevation
or call 800.845.5731, if your city is not listed) for your location and height
of that obstacle. Use the obstacle clearance
calculator to find out the distance you need to be from an object
in order to receive the signal. The diagrams below illustrate
the principles of obstacle clearance:

The dish is built at an offset (about 20°) that enables the signal to reach the dish at the focal point and then reflect into the LNB. With this offset, the dish will appear to be pointing below the signal (see dish below). This this in mind, use the elevation angle for your area to determine obstacle clearance, not the appearance of the dish. Use the elevation numbers printed on the elevation bracket to set the elevation.
