Math 10: Geometry

Course Description

A foundation for geometry is laid through the introduction of undefined terms, definitions, and incidence theorems. Subsets and measurements are covered. Logic is introduced as a basis for proofs. Other topics covered are area, circles, space, volume, transformations and symmetry, and similarity. The course concludes with an introduction to trigonometry.

It is biblically based throughout and contains one lesson per chapter, relating Geometry and Scripture. Different colors and shading are used to distinguish among postulates, definitions, theorems, and constructions. Exercises are divided into three levels of difficulty. Dominion Thru Math exercises, scattered through each chapter, relate to the chapter openers, and offer the opportunity for students to the use technology in problem solving. Analytic Geometry features, one per chapter, help students to make the algebra-geometry connection. Geometry Around Us features reveal some of Geometry’s secret hideouts. Mind over Math brain teasers are included. Geometry Through History introduces students to Mathematicians of the past and their achievements.

Meet the Instructor

Mrs. Genco, BS, MEd

Mrs. Tammie GencoMrs. Tammie Genco was blessed to grow up in a Christian home. The Lord gave her the grace to believe on Him as her Savior when she was in kindergarten. Since then the Lord has faithfully guided her steps. She attended BJU and obtained an undergraduate and a master's degree in education. She began working at BJU Press Distance Learning as an assistant and later as an algebra teacher. During that time she met her husband, Tom. They were married in May 2002. Mrs. Genco likes monster trucks, theater, mountains, roller coasters, and teenagers. Her desire for her Algebra and Geometry students is that they will be better equipped to serve Christ after this class.
