How do I find the system requirements for using the hard drive on my XP computer?
To find the operating system, processor speed, and RAM capacity on an XP computer:
- Turn on the computer. Select the following:
- Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/General
- The operating system needs to be Windows XP Service Pack 2 or above.
- The processor needs to be a Pentium class at least 1 GHz or the equivalent.
- The RAM must be at least 512 MB.
To verify presence of USB 2.0 port:
- Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager
- Select the plus button under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Look for the presence of "USB2 Enhanced Host Controller"
To check video resolution (recommended 1024 x 768):
- Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
- Select the Settings tab and set "Screen resolution" to 1024 x 768.
