Our Mission
- Our mission is to provide the academic community with excellent products and resources from an informed Fundamentalist perspective.
Our History
Bob Jones University Press has been publishing works of religious scholarship, primarily by BJU faculty, for decades. In 1973, the Press published George W. Dollar’s A History of Fundamentalism in America. In 1986, David O. Beale followed with In Pursuit of Purity: American Fundamentalism Since 1850. Peter A. Steveson and Stewart Custer began writing commentaries on Old and New Testament books, respectively, in the late 1990s. With the publication of these and other volumes, the Press established itself as the leading publisher of Fundamentalist scholarship.
In 2006, Bob Jones University Press became an official imprint of BJU Press. Formal cooperation also began that year with Bob Jones University Seminary to publish works by its faculty and students. In 2007 Layton Talbert’s Beyond Suffering: Discovering the Message of Job became the first book released as A Bob Jones University Seminary Publication. Seminary Publications released since then include commentaries, monographs in the series Biblical Discernment for Difficult Issues, and dissertations chosen by the Seminary from its graduates’ work.
